This Week in Swim Vol II: So we beat on, boats against the current...
Happy Sunday Swimmers and Swammers,
We have another fairly uneventful week ahead, so I will try to keep this one short (longtime readers just laughed to themselves I am sure).
We will transition to our morning practice schedule starting next Monday. More specific information on that will be in next week’s This Week In Swim. For the time being the practice schedules remain the same:
Weekday Evenings
4:00-5:00PM - 11&Older swimmers
5:00-5:45PM - 10&Under swimmers
A few notes and reminders when getting ready for practices:
- Make sure your swimmer has a cap and goggles with them for practice so that they can get the most out of our practices.
- All swim team members should bring their own towels for swim team practices (this will be true when we move to the mornings especially).
- We recommend that swimmers bring a water bottle with them to practice. There is a water bottle filler on deck and it will help keep them in the water.
- For the younger ones, please make sure your swimmer knows where to find you after practice.
In addition, please reach out and let the coaching staff know (via [email protected]) if there is anything that we should know to better help your swimmer succeed this summer. The bulk of our staff are teachers at different levels. My recommendation to parents, both with my club team and in the summer, is to let us know anything that you would let their teachers know. This will net the best results for your swimmer over the course of the summer.
Since there isn’t too much going on this week it is a perfect time to go through the event calendar on the ANCC.Swimtopia.com website. Make sure to get them all on your calendar now so you don’t miss a thing. In addition to getting them locked into your calendar, you can also go in to each meet on Swimtopia and mark your swimmer as ‘Attending’ or ‘Not Attending’. Only swimmers marked as ‘Attending’ will be entered into meets. We close the entries to meets 48 hours prior to the meet so that we can set the lineup. The earlier you get your availability in, the earlier the coaching staff can get the lineups posted.
Not only can you sign your swimmer up to be entered, but you can also sign up to volunteer! Make sure to get your preferred spot on deck, whether that be behind the blocks to give your swimmer one last word of advice before they step up, maybe meeting all the kids on the team is your thing then there’s clerk or course, or over at the table where the volunteer snacks are only an arm’s length away. Whatever it may be, we need a whole plethora of you all to make our meets run smoothly.
That’s it for this week. I hope to see more of you on deck as school winds down and we get fully into Summer Mode™.
From the Deck,
Coach Ian
