This Week In Swim Vol VII: Like Drinking From A Firehose

    Good Afternoon Friendly Freestylers,

It was wonderful seeing so many of you at the 4th of July festivities on Friday. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend and got some rest. The rest will come in handy, because things start moving very quickly as we get through the second half of the season. With so many events and meets going on the coaching staff does not have the ability to be quite as flexible as we may have been earlier in the season. So please make sure to read through the email each week to get an understanding of when, where, and how everything is happening. So many things to get to, so let's get to it.

    Kenwood Meet Entries

Availability for the Kenwood meet will close this evening at midnight. Please make sure your swimmers' availability has been marked appropriately by then.

Swim Team Picture Day - Tuesday, July 8th - 10:15AM

We will be taking our swim team picture at 10:15AM on Tuesday morning. All 8:30AM practice swimmers can plan to stay a little longer, 10AM kids will come and leave on their normal schedule, and 11AM practice kids will need to come early to be in the picture. Please have your swimmer wear their team suit if they have one.

    'A' Meet @ Kenwood -- Tuesday, July 8th

Warm Ups - 5:45PM, Meet Start - 6:15PM      --Meet Theme: Toga! Toga! Toga!

We head out to Bethesda again to take on Kenwood on Tuesday evening. They always give us a good meet, and since we started beating them 7 years ago this has become the meet they get up for the most. The forecast looks warm with possible storms in the evening. Please remember that we will try to get this meet in even if we have to dodge storms throughout the night.

Kenwood asked for some extra volunteers. So please check the volunteer jobs to fill before Tuesday. Even if they were full when you last checked some have been added. Thank you.

Kenwood will have their snack bar available and there will be a buffet starting at 6:30PM.

A Division Relay Championships (Take II) -- Thursday, July 10th -- @ Columbia CC

5:15PM Warm up -- 6:30PM Start          ---Meet Theme = USA!

We try again to get our Divisional Relay meet in on Thursday at Columbia CC. The relay lineup will be finalized after Tuesday evening's meet. Please make sure that your swimmer's availability is marked NOW so that we can get the lineup done as early as possible. Again, this meet is a great one to attend even if you are not swimming. Columbia will again offer a DJ and dance party in addition to their buffet after the meet.

    Fun Friday -- Tie Dye

We will have Fun Friday practice from 8:45-10:00AM on Friday. Following practice the activity will be tie dye! There will be a tent set up with all the supplies you need to take your shirt and turn it into a masterpiece. All you need to do is bring your own Army Navy shirt (this year's shirt may not be the best option given that it is already tie-dyed). The club will provide a treat for all who participate so come and join us for some colorful fun!

Remember also that this is a great opportunity to get your volunteer quota filled if you do not want to do it during the meets. All you need to do is come and help out and check in with Mrs. Vivarelli and Mrs. Cannon on Friday morning.

Squirt Gun Mini-Meet -- Saturday, July 12th @ Belle Haven CC

We have not received specific information on the start/warm up time for the meet as of yet, but expect warm ups to be between 7-8AM and the meet to start between 8-8:30AM based on past experience. Please make sure all entries are made by Wednesday evening.

This meet works a little like a B meet for our 10&U swimmers. Swimmers should only sign up for events in which they have not placed in the top 3 at a dual meet this season. Swimmers may enter up to 3 individual events.

    Columbia Meet Entries

Please make sure to mark your swimmer's availability for the Columbia meet next Tuesday by Saturday evening, July 12th so that coaches can begin working on the meet lineup.

Here's to hoping we are able to get all three meets in this week and keep the ball rolling through the back half of the season.

    From the Deck,

    Coach Ian
