This Week In Swim Vol IV: Back To Your Regularly Scheduled Programming

Good Afternoon and Happy Father's Day!

We had a great night on Friday evening at Blue-Gold time trials. It was really great to see everyone back in the water racing even if it was a long night. As I sit here writing this I hearken back to the many years we had Blue-Gold on Sunday afternoon of Father's Day. It was on that Sunday for most of my childhood and the beginning of my coaching tenure. Everyone sidling in from a big Father's Day brunch and then watching all the Dads slink away up to the only TV in the gym to watch the end of the US Open during the meet. So while we had a longer evening on Friday, it should make for a better Father's Day on the whole. The results from Friday night have been posted on Swimtopia and we move on to our regular season.

    Regular Practice Schedule

With everyone finally out of school and our regular season set to start we now move into our normal practice schedule which is as follows:

    Monday-Thursday:

    8:30-10AM - 13&O + 11-12 year round swimmers by coach approval

    10-11AM - 9-12 year olds + 8&U swimmers legal in all 4 strokes

    11-11:45AM - 8&U + 9-10s still working on legal breast and fly

Friday: 8:45-10AM - All ages Fun Friday practice

Mondays & Wednesdays: 4-5PM - Swimmers who are not able to attend morning practices

This practice schedule will run through July 26th. We will make sure to update any changes to the weekly schedule in the weekly emails.

    No Practice Wednesday

Speaking of changes... there will be no practices on Wednesday morning/afternoon due to the Juneteenth holiday. We will see everyone back in the water on Thursday morning.

    Tuesday -- B Meet vs. Lakewood CC & Ft Myer -- 5:30PM Warm Up -- 6:10PM Start

    Theme: Tropical

This Tuesday will be our first duel meet as we match up with C Division Lakewood and an out-of-league foe in Ft. Myer Swim Team. The theme for the meet will be tropical. So put on your best hawaiian shirt and get beach ready to hula. This will be a B meet for us. Normally that means that swimmers should not enter events in which they have placed in the top 3 during a meet. We have only had one meet, and it was just an intrasquad, so I ask that you use your best judgement. For those that were unable to make time trials, this will act as your de facto time trials meet.

While you do get to sign up for events for your swimmer, please note that there may be changes based on the number of entries for both Army Navy and the visiting teams. The final lineup will be ready on Tuesday morning. If your swimmer is marked as attending they will be entered in at least freestyle. No swim team member will be removed from the meet entirely for any reason. To that end: entries for the B meet on Tuesday will close this evening at 6PM. Please make sure to mark your swimmer's availability prior to that.

We look forward to hosting and, as usual, there will be a dinner buffet served on the Dive Inn deck. Buffet Sign Up & Menu

    Fun Friday

We will have our first full team Fun Friday practice this week from 8:45-10AM. Following practice there stick around for a treat and team camaraderie for all. More details will follow.

    Congressional Meet Sign Up

Our first A meet of the season will be next Tuesday, June 25th. Please make sure to have your swimmer's availability known by Friday evening. The coaches will work on the lineup and have it out to everyone with next Sunday's weekly email.

Thank you and looking forward to another week in the life of an Army Navy swimmer.

    From the Deck,

    Coach Ian
