This Week in Swim Vol I: And So It Begins...
Good Evening Everyone,
Welcome to the true start of the Army Navy swim season (aka when Ian is done with school). I will be sending out a weekly email each weekend throughout the season with all the news and happenings for the week ahead. I try to keep all the information in one place so as not to inundate everyone with emails throughout the week. Please take the time to read through each week at your leisure so that you know how to plan for your week in the pool. Let's get to it:
Practice Schedule
We move to our regular morning practice schedule this week:
Monday-Thursday
8:30-10am: 13 & over swimmers (+11-12 winter club swimmers)
10-11am: 9-12 year old swimmers (+8&U swimmers w/ all 4 strokes)
11-11:45am: 8&U swimmers
Friday
8:45-10am: Full Team Fun Friday Practice
In addition to those practices we will still be running our afternoon practices at 4pm and 5pm as we have the last two weeks for those swimmers who are still in school.
Practice Reminders
Towels: Swim Team members should be bringing their own towels for practice to ensure that there are enough towels for members once the pools open.
Water Bottles: Swimmers should bring their own reusable water bottle to practice with them. There is a fill station outside of the new deck level bathrooms.
Deck Access: Please remember that while the pools are closed no one should be on the Olympic Pool deck other than coaches and the swimmers participating in the practice at that specific time. If you have any questions for the coaches please find time outside of practice or feel free to email me at any time.
Blue-Gold Time Trials Meet
Friday evening we will have our first meet of the season. If you plan to attend please make sure to sign up your swimmer on Swimtopia. This is good practice for the rest of the season: swimmers will only be entered in meets if they are marked as Attending for that meet. All meet sign ups are open and available now. The deadline to mark your attendance for the Blue-Gold meet will be Wednesday. This will also act as our first team social event, so please plan to stick around and hang out with our team community after the meet -- Buffet Menu and Registration
Who: All Swim Team members
What: A chance for coaches and swimmers to get a baseline for the season. This is a time trials meet and swimmers are expected to swim all events in which they are capable of and legal in.
When: Friday evening. Warm ups will begin at 5:15pm, the first events will hit the water at 5:45pm.
Congressional Meet Sign Up
The deadline to sign up for the Congressional meet on Tuesday, June 20th will be on Friday, June 16th. Please make sure to mark your swimmer as Attending or Not Attending prior to the end of this week so that the coaches can begin to work on the lineup and it can be included in next week's TWiS.
That's all for this week.
From the Deck,
Coach Ian
