ANCC Swim - VOLUNTEERS!
Hello ANCC Swim and Junior Teams!
Please read this long, but important email.
I am the volunteer coordinator for our team and am writing to explain the various jobs and encourage all families to please volunteer. It takes about 40 parents to run a swim meet. We ask that each family contribute 2 shifts over the course of the summer. We are a very large team and we should not have to plead for volunteers over the loudspeaker before meets. We are hosting many meets this summer in our beautiful new facility so let’s impress the other clubs with our facilities and great teamwork! Swim meets cannot start until all volunteers are present. All volunteer slots are available on Swimtopia. Please click on “Meet&Events” tab: https://ancc.swimtopia.com/swim_meets. You will see for each event “Job Signup” green buttons. Click on those and enter your name. So simple! We ask that people start signing up now. If you know your child will be at a meet, please take a slot. If you aren’t sure what meets your child may be swimming, take a look at the FAQs tab: https://ancc.swimtopia.com/faq
We recognize that not all swimmers will be swimming in A meets or staying until the end of the A meets. That’s ok – there are many opportunities for B meets and Fun Fridays where you can contribute your time!
Broken down by category are the following jobs:
Timers
No experience required! Must be able to stop a stopwatch, hit a plunger button, and write down times (not all at the same time). Advantages: Front row view for the races, may get splashed to cool off, get to interact with swimmers, and chat with fellow timers.
Runners
No experience required! Pickup time cards from timers and “run” them to the table and post results from the table when available. Advantages: Front row view for the races, get in extra steps, get to interact with swimmers.
Officials
Must be certified. There are still training sessions before the season, please see John Fitzgerald’s email from last week if you are interested or contact him directly @ [email protected]
Clerk of Course
No experience required! Veteran clerk experts will help guide you. Help herd the 10&U swimmers to the blocks in the right order. Advantages: Lots of interaction with younger swimmers, job is over after 10&U butterfly, work with a fun group of parents.
Computer Systems
Must be trained. We are in desperate need of volunteers willing to get trained to help with the computer systems. Please reach out to me directly @ [email protected] if interested. Advantages: Learn a new skill, chat with other table workers, front row view.
Ribbons
No experience required! Veteran ribbons crew will help guide you. Help put the results stickers on the ribbons and file them. Advantages: Chat with the ribbons crew, become one of the kids’ most beloved volunteers, front row view.
Fun Friday
Help keep Fun Fridays fun – directing the kids, preventing chaos, you know the drill. Great job opportunities for Junior Team parents who may not be attending a full meet.
Thanks for hanging with me through this long email. I am happy to answer any questions, also Wendy and Ian will be available during Friday's parent social to address questions. Let’s have a wonderful, fun season. Go ANCC!
