The Week in Swim Vol V: Everything All in One Week
Good Evening Everyone,
So much to get to and some different meet formats for this week. There is a lot of new information as well with all the rescheduling so please make sure to read through and let us know if you have any questions.
First, some scheduling news. The Manor meet has been rescheduled for Monday, July 22nd @ Manor. This was previously the date of our rescheduled home meet with Kenwood. We will now be swimming them at a tri-meet with Washington Golf on Thursday (more on that below). If you had already made your swimmers' availability known for the Kenwood meet it will still be in there.
Monday:
YRF Card Presentation: 9:15AM -- Swimmers at the 8:30 practice will be taking the cards that were made on Friday over to the golf course to present them to the soldiers playing in the Yellow Ribbon Fund golf tournament. If you see this before you leave tomorrow morning, please make sure to wear your ANCC Swim & Dive t-shirt.
Stroke Clinic: From 1:00-1:30PM we will hold our weekly stroke clinic at the Olympic Pool. This week we are working on turns and finishes.
Afternoon Practice: We will be holding afternoon practices on both Monday and Wednesday from 3:30-4:30pm again this week instead of our normal 4:00-5:00pm. This is due to home dive meets on both evenings and they have asked to start their warm ups at 4:30pm.
Tuesday:
A Division Relay Championships @ Washington Golf:
When: Warm ups at 5:30PM, Meet starts at 6:30PM
Where: Washington Golf & Country Club -- 3017 N Glebe Rd, Arlington, VA
What: This is a relay only meet. There will be a medley relay and free relay for each gender and age group plus the Crescendo Free Relay at the end of the meet. This will be the smallest roster we have for any meet this summer. Please see attached for the relay lineups (make sure to check all age groups as some swimmers are swimming up). Please let us know immediately if your swimmer is entered and is not able to attend on Tuesday night.
While this is a small meet in terms of how many swimmers are entered, it is a very fun meet that runs quite quickly. I encourage all of our swimmers to come and enjoy the meet whether they are swimming or not. All swimmers will be welcome on deck and at the buffet dinner and DJ Dance Party presented in the Washington Golf clubhouse immediately following the meet.
Call for Parent Swimmers: Washington Golf has added one event to the end of the meet just for the parents. There will be a Parents Relay at the end of the evening and we are looking to build some solid relay teams. I would love to have a team of moms and a team of dads participating. Please let me know if you would be interested in competing for Army Navy and showing off to your kids a little.
Entry Deadline: Please make sure to make your availability known for Thursday's big tri-meet. Meet entries will close at 10PM on Tuesday night.
Wednesday:
Afternoon Practice: As mentioned above, due to the home dive meet afternoon practice will shift to 3:30-4:30PM
Entry Deadline: Meet entries for Friday's SuperNoVa meet at Belle Haven will close at 8:00PM on Wednesday evening.
Thursday:
The Super Bowl of the CCSDA: Due to the large number of rain-outs so far this summer we have set up the biggest, baddest meet in the history of the CCSDA. For the first time ever the clear top three teams in the league will compete in a double duel together. One night only! It's going to be the fastest Country Club meet this side of the Mississippi. Time to get hype everybody!
There are some logistics in terms of number of entries for each event and whatnot, but here is what we do know:
--Warm ups will be at 5:05PM, Meet will begin at 6:15PM
--We will be celebrating our Senior Night at this meet. Kenwood, Washington Golf, and Army Navy will all be recognizing their seniors prior to the start of the meet. It will be a Senior Celebration Bonanza.
--We will have 5 entries per stroke event, but will likely not have unlimited heats of freestyle. I will be doing my best to get as many of our team entered as possible, but there is a chance (some decisions are still pending) that this will be a meet where not every single swimmer will swim. We will update you when a final decision is made.
Friday:
Entry Deadline: Please make sure you have marked your availability for the 'A' Division Championship Meet taking place at Manor CC on Tuesday, July 23rd. I would like to have these entries posted by the weekend and all entries will close on Friday at Noon.
Poster Making Party: From 10:30-11:30am on the Dive Inn deck swimmers will have the opportunity to make posters to decorate the pool and team areas for our home Champs this year. It's a great way to show your spirit and make sure every other team knows who's house this is when they arrive for Champs.
SuperNoVa Meet @ Belle Haven: The annual SuperNoVa Invite is hosted by Belle Haven this summer. We do not have specific details from them as of yet, however, you can plan for a warm up time between 5:00pm and 6:00pm and a fairly normal meet schedule to follow. Not every swimmer will be swimming in this meet, but please make sure to let us know your swimmers' availability prior to Wednesday night so that we can get our entries set up and posted as soon as possible.
Saturday:
Entry Deadline: Please make sure you have made your availability known for the make-up duel meet at Manor CC on Monday, July 22nd. Entries will close at 12:00PM on Saturday.
Like I said, plenty to get to this week. Please make sure you are aware of the entry deadlines. With all of the meets and changing events I will be less likely to be able to accommodate late entries and those that miss the deadlines. Thank you!
From the Deck,
Coach Ian
